A-Energy Corporation keeps records of wells

The company’s employees use an interactive well stock database.

The well log book in the control and interpretation batch is one of the most important and actively used items. Over the years of work, materials of several thousand wells have been accumulated in dozens of fields, new ones are periodically added.

To prevent the loss of valuable information, avoid duplication on an unreliable medium and expand the functionality, A-Energy created an electronic database of wells. The platform for its creation was smart dynamic Excel spreadsheets with an interactive element of interaction. The most time-consuming task turned out to be the transfer of data from paper to “figure”: I had to do everything manually, there were no ready-made data in electronic form.

During the month, a total of 4,820 wells in 117 fields were entered into the interactive database being created. It was just a set of static data in an Excel spreadsheet that needed to be presented in a presentable way. Since we live in the era of active Internet surfing, we decided to go a little further and create interactive interaction content with hyperlinks to the site where the deposits are described in detail. One click of the mouse takes the user to the Geonedra website, which contains detailed information on deposits, their history, composition, licensed subsoil users, etc.

Pop-up comments with brief information on each field turned out to be useful. They are convenient because they appear only when you hover over them, at other times they are hidden and do not interfere with viewing the content. The interactive base turned out to be quite voluminous: more than 2,000 lines long and 117 cells wide. For quick navigation by name and number, the standard built-in Ctrl F command, which calls the search menu, turned out to be the most convenient. And no complicated codes, formulas and cells for programming.

For convenience and presentability, the database was provided with detailed instructions with tooltips in the form of pictures. As soon as the cursor is hovered over, they show the main points of operation, which reduces the time to familiarize yourself with the user manual.

One of the most important points was to ensure the protection of the database from accidental erasures. The programs were not limited to standard protection: all data was saved to optical media. It reliably protects the base from all kinds of damage, being a kind of backup (backup copy).

The created well stock database is always available in the local network. No need to waste time flipping through a magazine looking for a page. You don’t have to worry about data security. The interactive well fund in terms of functionality can be repeatedly supplemented and expanded. This is a good basis for more complex and multi-dimensional constructs that can be expanded to include various data types.
